THE WINNING TEAMS OF THE V REGATTA OF THE SUMA MEDITERRANEAN FIXED BANK LEAGUE

Last Sunday February 26th, the V Regatta of the SUMA Mediterranean Fixed Bank League took place at the facilities of the Real Club Náutico de Calpe. Over 550 athletes participated in the event, demonstrating an exceptional level of sporting prowess. The regional competition organized by the Federación de Remo de la Comunitat Valenciana is supported by SUMA Gestión Tributaria. It is now approaching the halfway point of the eleven regattas planned. In total, eighteen clubs of different ages across the Levantine coast participated last Sunday.

In the children’s groups, Club Rem Cía Gandía (belonging to the Mixed Promotion category) launched the race. The group covered 700 metres and completed a tack, as did the teams participating in the cadet races. Coming first in the female cadet category was the team Real Club Naútico, while in the men’s category the team Club Náutico Santa Pola won.

The categories SCM Promoción (formed by people who have overcome Breast Cancer) and Mixed Category Promotion made a similar course. The wins went to Real Club Regatas Alicante and the team formed by athletes from Real Club Náutico Valencia and Real Club Náutico Gandía. As usual, the veteran races were the most numerous, with a total of twenty-six boats. Real Club Náutico Denia won the women’s race and Club Deportivo de Mar Clot de L’Illot El Campello won the men’s race.

The distance was longer for the junior and senior boats, which had to complete 1,400 metres and overcome three tacks. In the younger age groups, the victory went to the girls of Club Náutico Santa Pola and the boys of Real Club Regatas Alicante.

The women’s senior race was dominated by the athletes of Secció Esportiva Universitat d’Alacant, who finished the course in 7 minutes and 3 seconds, thirteen seconds less than the athletes of Club Deportivo de Mar Clot de L’Illot El Campello. Winning group Real Club Náutico Denia reached the finish line in 6 minutes and 35 seconds. Secció Esportiva Universitat d’Alacant finished in second position and Real Club Regatas Alicante came in third, completing the podium.

The next regatta of the Mediterranean SUMA Fixed Bank League is scheduled for next March 12, in Benidorm.
