This past weekend saw Calpe host the VI Regatta of the Liga Suma Banco Fijo del Mediterráneo, one of Spain’s most competitive regional rowing leagues. Organized by Federación de Remo de la Comunitat Valenciana, and hosted by The Real Club Náutico Calpe, the event included over 600 athletes who all brought competitive passion which created a day filled with excitement.
Race Format and Distances
The competition followed a structured format that included two phases: Timed Trials and Finals, with distances varying based on specific age groups. Infantiles, cadets, veterans, and SCM (Breast Cancer Survivor category) rowers took on a 700-metre course with one turn, while juveniles and absolute categories raced 1,400 metres with three turns.
Key Race Results
Real Club Náutico Valencia took first place in the Mixed Gender Promotion Race, and also won the Mixed Promotion Category with a team combined with Club Náutico Santa Pola. In the SCM category, Club Náutico Benidorm took first place.
The Veteran Division saw Real Club Náutico Dénia secure the victory in the women’s final while Real Club Regatas Alicante finished first in the men’s final.
The Absolute category featured 24 boats and some of the most contested races of the day. The men’s and women’s final saw the same two teams go head to head. In the women’s final, Secció Esportiva Universitat d’Alacant beat Real Club Náutico Valencia by just three seconds. However, the men’s final flipped the outcome as Real Club Náutico Valencia won by eight seconds.

The next event for Federación de Remo de la Comunitat Valenciana is the Autonomous Indoor Rowing Championship is set to take place on Saturday, March 8th in Alicante.
