‘RUGE ROSARIO’ FESTIVAL (JUNE 2nd to 4th) CONCERTS, GASTRONOMIC EXPERIENCES AND FREE FAMILY ACTIVITIES

Valencia is gearing up for the highly anticipated return of the Cabanyal-Canyamelar Cultural Festival, known as Ruge Rosario. This year, the fourth edition of the festival will take place from June 2nd to June 4th, featuring the theme: “A fuego lento” (Slow Fire). In collaboration with Teatre El Musical, Ruge Rosario aims to showcase a unique blend of traditions and contemporary art found in the Poblados Marítimos.

The festival’s programme boasts an array of 25 free activities, encompassing various forms of artistic expression. With music, dance, dialogue, creativity, gastronomy, and community engagement as its core ingredients, Ruge Rosario promises an unforgettable experience for all attendees.

The Plaza del Rosario will serve as the central hub of the festival, hosting a cultural program curated by TEM (Teatre El Musical), along with additional activities at Lorenzo de la Flor Square and Calabuig Square. This year’s edition of Ruge Rosario also proudly collaborates with Pro 21 and Berklee College of Music, resulting in an even more exceptional programme for attendees to enjoy.

Marta Rodríguez, the festival’s founder, describes Ruge Rosario as a community cultural cooperation project that fosters reflection and coexistence through art. The ultimate goal is to inspire a creative, communal, artistic, and entrepreneurial spirit within the Cabanyal-Canyamelar neighbourhood of Valencia.

Among the festival’s highlights are the performances by Maruja Limón, an all-female quintet from Barcelona renowned for their music blending flamenco, pop, and Latin rhythms. Additionally, the rhythmic Jamaican sounds of La Fricativa sonora will be performed, while Valencian pianist and producer Albert Sanz will offer an intimate balcony concert experience. The “roar in dance” section of the festival will feature performances from various groups, including Beat Mode and Tun Up Party.

In addition to these performances, Ruge Rosario will also offer neighbourhood activities to further engage the local community. These include the Ruge Rosario Tapas Route, with 17 neighbourhood establishments participating, as well as a lively window-dressing competition organised by Cabanyal-Canyamelar shopkeepers. The sopar de pa i porta, a neighbourhood tradition promoting neighbourly gatherings, and a special screening of the Cabanyal Z series’ 10-year anniversary will round out the festival’s offerings.

The fourth edition of Ruge Rosario promises to be a cultural feast where the traditions, artistry, and flavours of the Cabanyal-Canyamelar neighbourhood come alive. It is a celebration of community, creativity, and the vibrant spirit of Valencia.
