##24/7 VALENCIA: PLEASE TELL US ABOUT SOMETHING ABOUT YOUR BACKGROUND AND EDUCATION…
When I get asked about my background and education I always say that I am a graphic designer out of education and a photographer out of passion. I didn’t really study to be a photographer, I just became one. I was born and raised in Verona (Italy) and in 2016 I graduated from University with a BA degree in Graphic Design and Multimedia Communication.
It was during my University years that my passion got bigger and bigger, I took classes such as History of Photography, Digital Cinema and Media Communication that really shaped my vision of the visual arts. I did my final dissertation on the ethics and aesthetics of reportage photography and with my very first salary I bought my first beloved DSLR camera. I never stopped taking pictures from that day on.
Despite my intense love for my city and my culture, I knew that after graduating I wanted to move abroad and experience the world from a different perspective. That’s why in 2016 I moved to Cork and started my new life among the green fields of Ireland, freelancing as photographer and videographer in the music industry, alongside my full time job.
24/7 VALENCIA: WHAT GOT YOU INTERESTED IN PHOTOGRAPHY?
I think what fascinated me the most about photography right from the start was the ability to freeze a moment that was never going to repeat itself the same again. That’s why portrait photography and street photography are my favourite forms of photographic expression. With a click at the right time and in the right place, you can capture the essence of a person or the soul of a city for eternity… and that is just magic to me. I like photographing ‘ordinary’ people and showing them how beautiful they are when seen through the eyes of a stranger. Making someone smile when they see the picture you took of them and say: “Do I really look like this?”is the greatest privilege of all. Also, photography gives you the chance to speak through your work. That I always liked, being able to communicate something strong without the need for words.
24/7 VALENCIA: HOW DO YOU FIND VALENCIA?
Valencia to me is like that dear friend that lives far away from you and that every time that you see each other again it seems like no time has passed at all. It’s a city that somehow feels like home, its vibrant artistic essence and strong lively identity inspire and excite me every time.
It’s an interesting mix between a busy city vibe and a relaxed coastal mood, you can just walk around with your camera and know that something interesting is going to reveal itself to you at every corner.
I like how everyone in Valencia seems to appreciate a good park, nice food and a well deserved vermut at the end of the day. Maybe I might even get used to the crazy heat and late dinners one day ;).
