According to a study conducted by Culture Trip, Valencia has been named the best Spanish city for a working holiday. This comprehensive study analysed the major cities across countries that UK tourists elect to work from home, and produced a ranking of the top destinations for a working holiday worldwide. Valencia ranked second in the global city ranking, just behind Porto in Portugal. Yet out of the Spanish cities, Valencia was positioned in first, with big cities like Barcelona ranking third and Madrid ranking tenth in the overall list.
With one in five Brits planning to work remotely from abroad, this research helps identify the best destinations. Culture Trip assessed the essential criteria vital for remote work, deciding on crucial elements such as lightning-fast internet speeds, the cost of a cup of coffee, affordability of accommodation, and the availability of tourist attractions.
Interestingly, cities outside of Europe and distant from London faced challenges in competing with closer destinations. Additionally, cities in Pakistan, including Lahore, Karachi, and Faisalabad, ranked poorly in internet speed, making them less suitable for working holiday needs.
Overall, with remote work and workplace flexibility on the rise, Culture Trip has created a very relevant piece of research and an insight into the current world of work, and it is not a surprise that Spain has turned out to be one of the most common destinations!
